Witness Report
At approximately 8:50 PM on December 1, 2025, we were driving northbound on Green Pond Road in Rockaway Township, New Jersey, when we saw a white orb in the northwest sky, facing toward trees on a ridge. At first it looked almost like a star falling, but it did not behave like a shooting star. There was no trail, no visible noise or sound, and it appeared to drop straight down a significant distance, going below the tree line on the ridge. The object seemed to hover or float in one spot before suddenly dropping. It was visible for about 10 to 25 seconds. Because it was dark, it was difficult to judge the exact distance, altitude, size, or speed, though it may have been about a quarter mile away. The object appeared white, orb-shaped, and showed light. There were two of us who saw it. We have seen large drones from the nearby army base since 2022 and also experienced the New Jersey drone activity last year, but this did not look like a drone, a shooting star, or a Starlink deployment. I am generally skeptical about these kinds of sightings and have an aerospace background, so while I am not claiming to be an expert, this was something I could not easily explain. I also took a photo of the approximate vantage point about an hour after the incident.
